This beautiful 18k yellow gold Italian portrait pin and brooch of a lovely woman is hand painted, you can see the individual brush strokes. Her hair, ear, and necklace are decorated with 5 single cut clear gems, and her dress is clasped with a small ruby.
The glass covering the portrait is slightly curved. As the portrait is covered by glass, the colors look a little muted in the photographs; they look much richer viewed directly.
The picture on this lovely portrait is Victorian,* but with a more modern clasp, we are dating this pin/brooch c1920’s. There is some age discoloration, mostly towards the bottom. Everything is original in this pin/brooch. Nothing has been restored. There is some light scratching, mostly noticeable on the picture bezel, with magnification.
The gold frame of the portrait has a cross hatched texture, surrounded by a gold rope border. The bail which hides behind the portrait when worn as a pin, has a nice cross hatched texture as well.
The pin/pendant is 1-11/16″ tall by 1-1/2″ wide. The portrait is about 1-1/8″ tall by 7/8″ wide. The total height with bail is 2″.
The pin/pendant weighs 14 grams, and is signed KT18 Italy.
