A fine set of two vintage Japanese yellow cloisonné vases, decorated with red rose and green leaf designs, as well as sterling silver rims at the opening and the base.
Cloisonné is an ancient technique for decorating metalwork objects.
The bases are marked “Made in Occupied Japan”. Not marked, but acid tested to be sterling silver.
The vases come with their original import receipts, which date the vases to around March 1955.
Total weight of vases is 1,801 grams (3.97 pounds).
Each vase measures about 8 ¼” tall by 4 ½” widest, 2 5/8” wide in diameter at the base, and 2 ¾” wide in diameter at the opening.
Excellent vintage condition. Gently pre-owned. No chips, cracks, or crazing.
