Description

Estate handcarved ebony wood set in a 10k yellow gold bezel, depicting the “mano figa” good luck symbol.

The “mano figa” is actually an obscene hand gesture made by sticking one’s thumb between the forefinger and the middle finger. It is meant to ward off the “evil eye” curse, and as such is often given to women and children as protective wards.

While the “mano figa” has its origins in Italy, its use has survived in South America, particularly Brazil and Portugal.

Bezel not marked, but tested to be 10k gold.

Weighs 0.4 grams.

Ebony wood is about 15mm long x 7mm wide x 4mm deep.

Charm pendant is about 23.5mm tall.

Will fit on chains up to about 2mm wide.

Excellent estate condition. Gently pre-owned.
