This ornate vintage ring is set with a pear shape natural jelly opal of superior glow and prismatic color shift.
Light blue and violet predominate, with green, orange and rose highlights.
The opal measures approximately 8mm by 13mm.
Surrounding the opal are ten round genuine emeralds, estimated at 0.05ct each for a 0.50ct total weight.
The setting at the top measures about 13/16” by 1”, and rises ½” above the finger.
Some of the emeralds have small flaws from light wear, which is to be expected in a vintage ring (circa 1950s-1960s, possibly earlier).
The emeralds are a lovely kelly green color, and complement the color of the opal beautifully.
The ring itself has a raised gallery. The emeralds are set above circles of fine rope wire. Beneath the emeralds are 2.5mm gold balls, which are also enhanced with fine rope wire.
We believe this ring to be a handmade, one-of-a-kind piece.
The finger size is 6.5.
It weighs 7.9 grams.
It is marked 14k on the bottom of the setting that supports the opal.
Overall very good vintage condition. Very light wear commensurate with age. Some gold patina.
