The back of the case is marked REMONTOIR (which means stem wound). Underneath are engraved badges featuring a castle, a right-facing portrait, a wreath, and possibly an insignia or standard. Below the badges is inscribed: Cylindre, 10 Rubis.
The watch case markings are German and Swiss. The crown is German assay mark for gold. In a shield outline is marked 56, 14k, and 0.585 (also a German mark). The case also has a large and small squirrel marks, which are Swiss marks for 14k gold. The movement is Swiss; 10 jewels would be equivalent to a 15 jewel lever movement. The case is also marked with a style or serial number: 64961.
The watch is in very fine condition, very light wear. There is a hairline crack in the dial. The watch will run, but would need a cleaning/service to keep time accurate.
